50The Institute is headed by Mrs. Ursula N. Jeddy  who  is  the Director. Mrs. Jeddy is M.A psychology, (1st Class 1st) form the University of the Punjab. She Proceeded  to  USA  on a Fullbright scholarship  and obtained a  degree  in Clinical Psychology. She joined Mayo Hospital, Lahore where She was Chief Clinical Psychologist. In 1996 she joined the Trust and established this Institute.




51Mr. Muhammad Akhter is the Assistant Director. He was a technical Instructor in Pakistan Air Force and is now besides helping in Administration he looks after the entire Assistive technology equipment of the Institute.

He was specially Trained in Orientation and mobility in UK.







All members of the Faculty must have a M.A degree before joining  the  Institute  where  they  are  trained in English, Urdu, Mathematics Braille beside Orientation and Mobility.

Teachers Training:

All teachers are trained in English, Urdu, Mathematics Braille besides Orientation and mobility.

Student Training:

“We are not afraid of storms, because we are learning to sail our ship”

Students start learning Braille from day one.

In Class 5 they are issued Perkins Braillers to make their writing easy.

Mobility is ability. Orientation and mobility is another area which is highly emphasized.

Daily Living skills are also taught.

Braille Library:

The library has 3228 Braille Books, 979 catalogs, magazines and 218 large Print Books & magazines, 890 Talking Books. All this material is available to our blind students.


Students are encouraged to participate in games and sports.

Special Subjects:

Assistive Technology Techniques are the students are given opportunity to use special techniques and study subjects which are not tough as regular basis.

117The Institute has a pipe band which has 18 blind students and two sighted teachers. Raja Ashraf is the Band master who come daily.

There is a model room where they learn from life like models.


The students are encouraged to participate in any inter school activities.

Every year they observe the White Cane Day with great favor

On 11th January 2014 the Trust completed its 25 years and a function was held to observe “Founders Day”. An MPA Mr. Hamza Shahbaz Sharif came as the Chief Guest.

Tuition & Transport:
There is no tuition fee. Students are Provided transport from residence to the Institute at a nominal charge.
