The High School, which is the only fully English medium school in Pakistan for the blind provides education from Class 1 to Matric following the curriculum of the Board of Secondary Education, Punjab. All faculty members have master’s degrees and complete intensive training in English, Urdu, mathematics, braille, orientation, and mobility before starting. Our students are the only visually impaired students in Pakistan who have been taking the Computer Science exam at the Matric level since 2001 and have always secured First Division results.

Key Elements

  • English is the medium of instruction to enable access to global knowledge geared for visually impaired people (software, books, hobby craft, entertainment, and more).
  • All tests and examination papers from Class 4 and up are in Braille, including the Matriculation Board Exam. In Pakistan it is only our students who can write their own examination papers in braille or on computer.
  • General Science and Mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, and geometry) are compulsory.
  • Computer Science is taught as compulsory subject to Matric students.

  • Braille instruction begins from day one, moving from Sixer to Frame and Metal Slate.
  • Perkins Braille machines are issued to each student in Class 5 for written work.
  • Orientation and mobility training starts from Class 1 with trailing and White Cane usage.
  • In the language lab students listen to talking books to improve English language skills.
  • Music is a part of the curriculum. The Institute has an 18-Member Pipe Band.
  • Students participate in games and sports, learn music, go for excursions, participate in shows and competitions and celebrate special occasions.
  • The Model Room has science nature and geography models to teach students.
  • The Institute is open year-round. During the summer students learn cooking, gardening, and do science experiments.
  • Students are Provided transport from residence to the Institute at a nominal charge
